Special People Mover Pass Added to Detroit's Winter Blast

System offers unlimited pass, extended hours for weekend

DETROIT, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The excitement of the Detroit's Winter Blast just added a new feature: riding the People Mover as many times as you like.

Guests can now pick up a "Blast Pass," which gives them unlimited trips on the Detroit People Mover (DPM) from Thursday, Feb. 8 through Sunday, Feb. 11. The cost for the DPM Blast Pass is $3, through Saturday, Feb. 10. The pass will cost just $1 on Sunday only. The Blast Pass is a value; regular rates for special event passes are $1.50 per day.

People Mover Stations are located steps from all of the Detroit Winter Blast stages, tents, activities and parking. Patrons may pick up a DPM Blast Pass at the People Mover's Cadillac Center Station during the following hours:

Thursday, Feb. 8: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 9 - Sunday, Feb. 11: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Guests may also order online now until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 at www.thepeoplemover.com, by clicking on the Blast Pass link.

This is the first time that the Detroit People Mover has offered a special event pass to the public since Super Bowl XL and organizers are excited by the prospect of enhancing the experience of traveling around downtown Detroit.

"People Mover stations are right inside the heart of the Detroit's Winter Blast and our heated trains get you from Greektown to Campus Martius and near Woodward Ave. in less than two minutes between stations," said Barbara Hansen, General Manager of the Detroit Transportation Corporation, owners and operators of The People Mover. "We could not be happier that Jonathan Witz & Associates is working with us to make it possible for guests to return to Detroit's Winter Blast as many times and for as long as they like, the entire weekend."

The Detroit People Mover is running an extended schedule to accommodate all of the events happening downtown with the following hours:

Friday, 6:30 a.m - 2 a.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. - 2 a.m.
Sunday, 9 a.m. - Midnight
