MetroBeat TV Programs Receive International Awards
DENVER, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Two Comcast MetroBeat TV programs were recognized with top awards from The New York Festivals (http://www.newyorkfestivals.com/) at ceremonies held on February 2 at the Downtown Auditorium in New York City. The gold world medal was given to "Inside the Cover," the show about books and writing, in the Family Programs category. The "Student Voices" teen discussion program was given a bronze world medal for teen programming.
New York Festivals' International Television Programming and Promotion Awards recognize "The world's best work" in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots, openings and ID's. Now entering its 48th year, the total number of entries in TV Programming continues to grow. Judging of the entries was carried out by several hundred producers, directors, writers and other media professionals in the U.S. and around the world.
Launched in November 2005, MetroBeat TV today consists of three monthly programs that air simultaneously twice a week in 25 Denver metro communities on Comcast Channel 8. The programming is also streamed online at www.MetroBeat.tv and available On Demand anytime with Comcast Digital service.
The project was created by Comcast in collaboration with local Colorado Front Range communities to explore new potential uses of cable television technologies that could meet both the unique needs of local communities beyond the current television models, and increase the value of community programming to citizens at a regional level.
