Abilis Systems and CyberLink Showcase Secure "end-to-end" DVB-H Solution for Mobile TV Devices
GENEVA, Switzerland and TAIPEI, Taiwan, February 12/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Abilis Systems, the Kudelski Group semiconductor company offering the
world first single chip, low power Software-Defined-Radio (LP-SDR(TM))
solution for mobile digital TV, and CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world
leader in digital home solutions have announced the joint development of a
secure end-to-end mobile TV solution integrating Nagra Mobile TV
conditional access system.
The solution will be demonstrated at the 3GSM World Congress in
Barcelona, from February 12th to 15th, 2007.
Abilis Systems has developed a range of reconfigurable LP-SDR(TM)
single-chip mobile TV solutions, integrating a Quad Band RF tuner and a
multi-standard demodulator on a 90nm RF CMOS process. This advanced
process improves the RF characteristics, reduces the power consumption,
and minimizes the die size, and consequently cost, thus enabling the mass
market adoption of mobile TV.
CyberLink Mobile TV Solution is a software solution that enables the
decoding, playback, and recording of TV accessed via Abilis Systems
single-chip receiver. CyberLink's mobile TV player supports electronic
service guide (ESG) information, which allows the quick previewing of TV
channels. The software is compatible with multiple device platforms,
including phones, PDAs, notebooks and ultra-mobile PCs.
"Through this partnership with CyberLink, the Kudelski Group confirms its
commitment to offer secure end to end Mobile TV solutions which can be
quickly integrated in a terminal with a minimum of technical constraints",
said Adrienne Corboud, Executive VP of Business Development at Kudelski
Group. "The availability of a wide variety of handsets is a key element to
accelerate the Mobile TV market adoption."
"Together we have created a complete, secure, hardware and software
solution that's pre-certified for rapid world-wide deployment", said
Abilis Systems' CEO, Yves Mathys. "Our single-chip TV receivers serve both
the mobile handset market with DVB-H and the PCTV market with DVB-T. It is
currently sampling and will be ready for production by the middle of this
year. We are proud to work with Nagravision and CyberLink, market leaders
in the field of Mobile TV."
"CyberLink has adapted its TV-on-the-PC expertise to create a robust
software solution for mobile TV. We are glad to co-work with Abilis and
the Kudelski Group to develop a high-performance pre-qualified mobile TV
solution for a wide variety of devices", said Alice H. Chang, CEO of
CyberLink. "Together we are enabling secure mobile TV services on devices
such as PDAs, phones, and portable entertainment PCs".
