Shedding light on the irregularities of the rating system regulated by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)(R), this thought-provoking film features insightful interviews with writers, directors, producers, actors, journalists and many more that are affected by the mysterious system. Kirby Dick's provocative film investigates the secretive and inconsistent process by which the Motion Picture Association of America(R) rates films. Dick questions whether certain studios get preferential treatment, exposes the discrepancies in how the MPAA(R) views sex and violence, and reveals the association's efforts to control culture.
