Plan 9 From Syracuse: Man Runs Across Country for a Business Meeting With Mark Cuban

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Filmmaker Ryan Dacko is running across the nation -- from Syracuse, NY to Hollywood, California -- in the hopes of persuading film producer Mark Cuban to grant a business meeting. Dacko left Syracuse on August 15th, 2006 and has since logged over 113 days of travel by foot.

Currently crossing through the state of Arizona, Dacko is approaching the finish line. There seems to be no question that Dacko will complete his run. The question remains, however, will Cuban agree to a meeting?

Upon completion of his journey -- a total of 3,100 miles -- Dacko hopes to pitch a three-film-over-four-year business plan to Cuban. Mark Cuban, Internet entrepreneur and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has become involved in the film industry in recent years, acting as Executive Producer for films such as "Good Night, and Good Luck." and "Akeelah and the Bee."

This journey across the country is called "Plan 9 From Syracuse" because this is Dacko's ninth attempt to secure backing for his film projects. Other attempts have ranged from the traditional (business meetings with potential investors) to the unconventional (Dacko once disguised himself as a courier to gain access to Warner Bros. Studios).

Visitors to the "Plan 9 From Syracuse" site can find a daily journal supported by videos, photos, and stories from the road. Dacko plans to edit a feature-length documentary of his travels upon his return home.

Dacko has traveled on foot through blazing heat, extreme winds, freezing rain, and numerous snow storms -- including a blizzard in New Mexico. Averaging over 20 miles per day, Dacko will pass through Las Vegas within the next week and estimates an arrival in Hollywood close to January 1st, 2007.

A business meeting with Cuban would surely be the best way to begin the New Year.
