Online Voting Open for the Cinematic CD Film2Music Competition

Audiences Invited to View Over 90 Films From 12 Countries Shot to Music From the CD by Composer Kubilay Uner

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide online voting is in full swing for the Cinematic CD Film2Music Competition. Audience members can enjoy over 90 short films in a diversity of genres and vote for their favorites by visiting www.cinematiccd.com. Many of the films are also viewable at the website of video distributor and contest partner YouAreTV (www.youare.tv/film2music.) The film with the most audience votes will receive $5,000.

The Film2Music Competition invited filmmakers from all over the world to create a short film to a track of their choice from the CD Cinematic by composer Kubilay Uner, using only the music in the film's audio track. Cinematic is twelve tracks of acoustic instruments and electronic sounds intended to evoke vivid images and evolving stories.

Filmmakers from twelve countries on four continents participated, ranging from film students to professional filmmakers and visual artists of various disciplines, eager to face a new challenge. With over 90 films submitted, there is a plethora of genres to enjoy: powerful dramas, quirky comedies, abstract shorts, even a historical drama and a mockumentary.

"This competition is a bit different: Here a composer asked filmmakers to follow a piece of music with their visuals, instead of the other way around, and in the process show the world just where the music took them," states composer and competition founder Kubilay Uner. "It is fascinating to see the various interpretations of the same pieces of music by different filmmakers."

In addition to the $5,000 online prize, a panel of six internationally renowned filmmakers is currently in the process of determining the Grand Prize winner ($10,000) and two Second Prizes (set at $1,000 each). The jury includes writer/director Michael Polish (Twin Falls Idaho, Northfork), producer Clark Peterson (Monster, My Date with Drew), producer Jackie George (Demolition Man, Richie Rich), producer/director James C. Hart (CSI, Chicago Hope), Cinematographer M. David Mullen, ASC (Akeelah and the Bee) and animator/producer Dave Bossert (Creative Director for Special Projects at Disney Animation, Fantasia 2000).

Online voting for the Cinematic CD Film2Music Competition closes Sunday, Nov. 26th at midnight PST.
