BabyUniverse Announces Content Licensing Agreement With Oxygen Media
Oxygen's Oh!Baby Programming to be Featured on BabyTV.com
JUPITER, Fla., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BabyUniverse, Inc. (NASDAQ:POSH) a leading Internet content, commerce and new media company in the pregnancy, baby and toddler marketplace, announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with Oxygen Media Interactive to feature the Oh!Baby programming on BabyTV.com, the Internet's first integrated broadcast channel and social networking community focused on the needs of new and expectant parents.
Oh!Baby, Oxygen's VOD channel for those who've gone parental, will contribute segments of four popular shows, with content celebrating the highs and lows of the incredible journey called parenthood:
* You're on TV -- Hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon,
You're on TV features actual Oh!Baby viewers' home videos, showing
their kids doing what they do best: cracking us up. From baby's first
"bad hair day" to toddlers pooping where they shouldn't, chances are
you'll recognize -- and hopefully laugh along with -- the outrageous
situations these little ones get into.
* Parentology -- An animated series presenting some of the most original,
effective and, above all, entertaining parenting tips on TV.
Parentology is your primo source for "Tips for Raising Top Notch Tots."
Whether you're looking to get your kids to be more tidy, less pouty, or
just plain ol' trick 'em into eating their veggies, Parentology is
chockfull of surprising suggestions from real moms and dads.
* ApParently Speaking -- It happens to all of us: somewhere between the
miracle of birth and the joy of becoming a family for the first time,
reality sets in ... and as you well know, reality is rarely all
sunshine and lollipops. Unless, of course, you're cutting that lollipop
out of your toddler's hair. Fortunately, even for "perfect parents"
(with imperfect kids), there's apParently Speaking -- thematically-
grouped video segments featuring real moms and dads sharing their
funniest, wildest, and most embarrassing "parenting war stories," on-
camera.
* Kids Behaving Badly -- Hosted by Melissa Howard, Kids Behaving Badly is
the first spin-off of Oxygen's hidden-camera hit, Girls Behaving Badly.
A comedy in which five kids (all under nine years old) pull pranks on
parents and other gullible grown-ups. Kids Behaving Badly takes full
advantage of its stars' innocent appearances -- to lure in unsuspecting
suckers!
"We're excited to have Oxygen as one of our early strategic programming partners on the BabyTV.com network," said John Textor, Chairman and CEO of BabyUniverse. "We are confident this entertaining and real world how-to approach to parenting will be among the most popular programming on BabyTV.com."
Scheduled to debut in late 2006, BabyTV.com plans to cross-market to the 1.7 million monthly unique visitors of BabyUniverse-owned e-commerce properties such as BabyUniverse.com, PoshTots.com and DreamTimeBaby.com, and content properties such as PoshCravings.com and ePregnancy.com. BabyTV.com will be presented in an interactive format in which the consumer can tune in to broadcast-quality streaming television, upload videos to share with the community, interact with live events, engage in e-commerce transactions, browse links on the Web, and participate in BabyTV.com's robust online community.
