NEW YORK, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- How much do you trust your loved ones? That depends, according to the provocative results of the latest Lifetime Women's Pulse Poll* on "snooping." The survey found a majority of women (67 percent) admitted spying on their partners, generally fueled by suspicions of infidelity, while 58 percent said they've investigated their children's behavior -- primarily from fear their kids were involved with drugs. Only 15 percent had the guts to spy on their boss. But in the "be careful what you wish for" category, nearly half of all snoopers (43 percent) discovered something they later regretted learning.
Released in conjunction with the new LMN Original Movie "Inspector Mom," premiering Saturday, November 18 at 8PM (ET/PT) and starring Danica McKellar ("The Wonder Years") as a crime-solving suburban mother, the poll revealed that medicine cabinets (54 percent) were the top "snooping destination," followed by wallets (42 percent), closets (36 percent) and email (32 percent). Very few (10 percent) bothered going through credit card bills for evidence.
There are snooper limits: 58 percent insisted they wouldn't read someone's private diary and 88 percent claimed they wouldn't break the law. Technology has not yet fully impacted the amateur espionage business with only two percent confessing they've used a hidden camera or webcam.
The poll also concluded that 92 percent of respondents felt women are better at solving mysteries, though 76 percent believed women are the more trusting gender.
But sometimes a girl just gotta do what a girl gotta do, especially when there's a public humiliation looming. Ninety-seven percent supported Whitney Houston's decision in hiring a private investigator to explore the alleged affair between her husband and a music video star, with 90 percent saying that Heather Locklear was right in looking through her husband's email to confirm his dalliance.
However, what goes around comes around -- 68 percent of the respondents suspect they've been spied upon!
"Inspector Mom" is a production of Inspector Mom LLC. Brad Keller is executive producer/director.
