Haggar Clothing Co. Offers Outrageous 'Helpful Tips' for Baby Boomer Men With New Ad Campaign
NEW YORK, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Haggar Clothing Co. launched their new national television advertising campaign over the weekend. The humorous and irreverent campaign is a series of instructional videos starring "Pete and Red", two suburban dads who are addressing common pet peeves experienced by baby boomer men. Among their helpful lessons: "How to throw your teenage daughter's boyfriend out a window", "How to teach a nimrod how to use a stereo", and "How to give a guy his dog poop back". Pete and Red are on a mission to "make things right", the campaign's theme. "Making things right" embodies Haggar's(R) new Quality for Life(TM) product line, which sets the new standard of quality in the men's apparel industry and gives men, at last, clothes "made right".
The campaign first appeared on the Web, on the YouTube video-sharing site, on November 1, 2006; it was the #1 most-watched and #1 most-forwarded video of that day. Its television debut is during the NFL games this Sunday and Monday, November 5 and 6, with a significant schedule on cable.
In the campaign, Pete and Red host their own public-access style "How To" show, titled "Making Things Right with Pete and Red". In each 'episode', the hosts are faced with situations common to every boomer man, from a neighbor's dog going to the bathroom on your lawn (and its owner not cleaning up afterwards), to teens loudly blaring their car stereo through the neighborhood, to a teenage daughter's slacker boyfriend taking up residence on the family sofa. Pete and Red demonstrate how the features of Haggar clothing make dealing with each of these situations easier. Got an urge to throw your daughter's boyfriend out the window? Haggar khakis, with the "Do-It-To-It(TM) Waistband" really lets you swing through. Need to give your neighbor his dog poop back? Haggar's unbustable seams will let you bend over to pick it up without worry. As Red tells us, with Haggar pants, "I could bend over and pick up dog crap until the cows come home!".
"We learned that Haggar customers are real straight-up, stand-up guys -- the kind of men who take pride in a job well done and have a strong sense of ethics. There is a code of behavior which they honor. In their crusade to 'make things right', Pete and Red are addressing the pet peeves in our customers' daily lives, but they get to do what the Haggar man would only fantasize doing," said Stephen Croncota, Chief Marketing Officer of Haggar. "The campaign also pertains to Haggar, and the code of behavior in the making of apparel which we honor. We don't do slipshod work and we don't compromise; our product standards are so high that we can guarantee Haggar clothing for the entire life of the owner. Thus, Pete and Red are effective representatives for the Haggar brand. The format also lets us demonstrate product features in a way that's so entertaining, our target audience can't help but be engaged."
