HollywoodReporter.com Rolls Out 'FYC Studio Showcase'

- New Advertising Portal Provides Access to Extensive Studio and Film Information -

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Coming on the heels of a major Website redesign, The Hollywood Reporter today launched its For Your Consideration Studio Showcase, a portal located at www.HollywoodReporter.com/FYC. The FYC Studio Showcase section, arriving just in time for the start of awards season, was created to supply the HollywoodReporter.com reader with information about studios and film companies, while allowing the latter to expand their marketing presence online. The Studio Showcase, now in its initial stage, will evolve and be updated as more studios come on board and submit their creative elements.

Visitors to the HollywoodReporter.com/FYC portal will be able to click through to selected studios' microsites to access integrated information and participate in activities such as:

* Watching film trailers
* Viewing and/or downloading screenplays and songs
* Checking a film's credits by a direct link to IMDB
* Using the "Tale of the Trophy" feature, tracking how many awards
nominations a film has received from various awards programs before the
Oscars
* RSVPing for film screenings

"We continually make improvements to our Website so that readers have the best user experience possible," said John Kilcullen, publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and president of the Film & Performing Arts Group. "HollywoodReporter.com delivers all of the news and data that readers need to navigate their business. It's a natural extension of The Hollywood Reporter brand to provide our advertisers with this new platform to showcase their considered movies during awards season."

Sponsoring companies pay a flat fee to post an unlimited amount of information on their microsite. They can buy into one or both phases of the For Your Consideration Studio Showcase program. Phase 1 runs from today to January 13, when Oscar nominations close. Phase 2 runs from January 23, when Oscar finalists are announced, to February 20, when final polls close.

"The FYC portal and studio microsites were inspired by the entertainment community who felt that this would be a useful tool during awards season," said Michael Laur, VP and Group Advertising Director. "Leveraging the latest technologies available, we created this one-of-a-kind online forum that will serve both our readers and advertisers alike."

The FYC Studio Showcase was designed by The Hollywood Reporter and developed by Varien, a web development firm based in Culver City, Calif. Varien built a custom administration tool that allows The Reporter to easily manage all of the Showcase's content, including flash video streaming.

Earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter launched a major redesign of HollywoodReporter.com, which now includes site-wide integration of The Reporter's database, streamlined video, easier navigation and the Showbiz 50 -- The Reporter's new index of the leading entertainment-sector stocks that is updated in real time. In addition, subscribers now have exclusive access to coverage that extends beyond print in the form of news videos, The Reporter's popular "Money & Media" podcast and slide shows that will often include "you-are-there" narration from the trade paper's reporters.
