Lionsgate Top Management Reach New Long-Term Agreements
CEO Jon Feltheimer and Vice Chairman Michael Burns Slated to Extend Employment Agreements for Four-Year Terms
SANTA MONICA and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer and Vice Chairman Michael Burns have agreed to the material terms of new employment agreements to extend their tenure as Lionsgate top management for another four years, the Company announced today. Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF) is the leading independent filmed entertainment studio.
In announcing the new agreements, Lionsgate noted that the four-year extensions provide the long-term continuity and consistency essential to continue successfully executing the Company's business plan through March 31, 2011. The Company noted that the agreements will bring Feltheimer and Burns' stewardship of Lionsgate to more than 11 years, reflecting extraordinary senior management stability for the media and entertainment industry. Lionsgate pointed out that the new deals facilitate the Company's business plan of continuing to grow its core motion picture, television and packaged media businesses while beginning the process of leveraging its content into new digital media platforms that represent a critical element of its future.
Feltheimer and Burns engineered the December 1999 recapitalization of Lionsgate and joined the Company as CEO and Vice Chairman, respectively, in March 2000. Since then, Lionsgate has successfully acquired and integrated Artisan Entertainment, Trimark Holdings, Redbus Film Distributors, Debmar- Mercury and a number of other filmed entertainment libraries. Lionsgate's revenues have grown from $184 million in fiscal 2000 to $951 million in fiscal 2006. During this same period, the Company's market capitalization has increased from approximately $80 million to more than $1 billion.
