Fun and Easy-to-Make Halloween Costume Ideas Inspired by Popular Movie Ticketing Company Icons

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- For Halloween 2006, one of the most popular costume-making materials is a decidedly low-tech item. Believe it or not, it's something that most families have laying around the house: paper bags.

Fandango, the leading movie ticketing service and entertainment Website, is reporting that their famous Bag Puppet characters are part of the latest trend in Halloween costume ideas.

The Bag Puppets first appeared on the big screen in 2003 as the stars of the company's movie theater advertising campaign. Since then, the Puppets have taken on a life of their own and have made the jump from 14,000 cinema screens around the country to your doorstep.

Over the last few years, Fandango has received hundreds of stories from fans young and old who used their creativity to fashion their own home-made Bag Puppet outfits. And it goes beyond Halloween costumes -- the Puppets have inspired school art projects, short film spoofs, a parody promoting the MTV Movie Awards, museum events and even parade characters.

The costumes are easy (and cheap!) to create, since they require only shopping bags, a small amount of fabric and any random household items. Among the dozens of Fandango Bag Puppet characters featured in the company's commercials, those most commonly imitated as Halloween characters include:

* The Surfer -- Decked out in a Hawaiian shirt, starfish hair and a
seashell nose;
* Chitra -- A Bollywood starlet with a licorice mane and a swath of
purple fabric fashioned into a sari;
* Dog -- Featuring fake fur-remnants and googly-eyes from the local
craft store.

Families have found that making the Halloween Bag Puppet costumes can be a fun hands-on experience, requiring collaboration and ingenuity. For more ideas on Fandango Bag Puppet costume concepts, please contact Harry Medved at 310-451-7690, ext. 112, or harry.medved@fandango.com.
