Third-Party Challenge in Florida Boosted by 1st Major Media Buy

Several Hundred Thousand Dollar Media Blitz Sharply Raises the Stakes for Old Line Democratic and Republican Gubernatorial Candidates

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- In a major challenge to the entrenched two-party system, the Max Linn For Governor campaign has initiated a major broadcast media blitz in Florida's leading markets. The advertising campaign will run from August 21st to the 25th in the Tallahassee, Tampa Bay, Orlando and Miami broadcast areas. It is the first in a series.

The initial television campaign will be kicked off with a 30-second commercial entitled "You Know Max." The ad begins by reminding viewers of Max Linn's history of fighting lobbyists, career politicians and special interests as the president of Florida Citizens For Term Limits.

The new Max Linn For Governor campaign commercials are aimed directly at the general election, not at participants in the primaries. "While career politicians fight for dominance among the two traditional parties, I want voters to be aware that there is now a new and viable alternative," said Linn. "The spot will soon be available as streaming video on our website, www.maxlinn.com ," said Linn.

Doug Friedline, the former campaign manager for Jesse Ventura and the current campaign manager for the Max Linn campaign, commented, "I am excited by the launch of our television blitz. Voters need to know they have a new option before they cast a ballot in either of the two party primaries. We intend to raise our visibility before September 5th so that voters understand their options early on in the election process," said Friedline.

Russell Verney, former campaign manager for Ross Perot and operations manager for the Max Linn campaign, is the architect of the new media campaign. He commented, "Our August television advertising campaign is the first in a series designed to reach voters who are looking for a governor who is not a captive of the old-fashioned two-party system. We want the voters to know they can vote for a governor who has a fresh perspective because he doesn't take money from lobbyists and special interests."

Linn's victories against the foes of legislative term limits have given him the campaign experience and grassroots support for a third-party victory. Linn personally funded the recent term limits campaign triumph. He has now committed $1,000,000 of his own money to the gubernatorial race. "There is a severe leadership vacuum in Florida, and my team intends to fill it with a viable and historic third-party challenge," said Linn. "The traditional media focus mainly on old line party candidates. Our campaign is designed to capture the support of voters and demonstrate the strength of our challenge before September 5th," Friedline said.
