The hour-long show, sponsored by NCOT, will take 2 million television viewers to locations rarely seen on the big or small screen as it follows 20 athletes on a 1,000-mile course. Paired into 10 co-ed teams by profession, the athletes traveled around Nevada to compete in six different adventure sports that included off-beat events such as a ranch-hand rodeo, railroad handcar races and recumbent biking to more traditional sports such as autocross, Jet Skiing and mountain biking.
"We want Nevada to be a top-of-mind adventure destination, and 'The Nevada Passage' is a very effective way to let potential travelers know about our amazing outdoor playground," Hunt said. "Nevada has more mountain ranges than any other state, alpine lakes, rushing rivers, developed trails and wide-open landscapes, which strongly appeal to adventurers."
The syndicated show will air on ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox affiliates in more than 80 markets between Aug. 12 and Feb. 28, 2007. "The Nevada Passage" is confirmed to air in top metropolitan markets including New York, Washington, D.C., and Minneapolis as well as key inbound markets including San Francisco, Sacramento, Calif., Salt Lake City, Denver and Phoenix.
"The television show allows us to shine a spotlight on rural communities that have a lot to offer adventure travelers but have limited resources to market to a national audience," said NCOT Director Bruce Bommarito. "Plans for a third episode of 'The Nevada Passage' are underway because there are more locations and adventure activities that we want to show travelers."
The full schedule, updated weekly, is online at www.nevadapassage.com under the "watch" icon. Once syndication is complete, the episode will be viewable at www.nevadapassage.com beginning in March 2007.
