Banjo.com and the Atlanta Braves to Host Earl Scruggs at Guinness World Record-Setting Event

ATLANTA, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Banjo.com today announced the first-ever Guinness World Record event for a banjo ensemble. They will be setting a Guinness World Record for the most banjo players assembled in one location, playing the same song, at the same time. May sound simple, but it isn't that easy...and has never been achieved to date. Banjo.com has set a goal of having 500 banjo players all picking and strumming together.

Dedicated to a Legendary Banjo Player

This event, titled "A Tribute To Earl Scruggs," will honor one of the greatest banjo players of all time. The song that will be performed by the banjo ensemble at Turner Field is Earl Scruggs' 1949 classic, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, which was featured in the 1967 motion picture Bonnie and Clyde. Earl Scruggs literally wrote the book on bluegrass banjo picking. He developed the three-finger picking style that bears his name and emerged as the primary bluegrass banjo-picking style used today. Earl Scruggs, now 82, will be attending the event on September 13th.

"This event may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for banjo players to make history while playing an instrument they love," said John Drummond, a banjo player and president of Banjo.com. "We all have dreams -- just like Earl Scruggs did when he started playing the banjo at age four. Let's make those dreams come true together by setting a world record while having the time of our lives!"

Start Pickin' & Register!

Banjo players can register today at Banjo.com (http://www.banjo.com/scruggs.html) to participate in this world record- setting event. All banjo players are welcome to attend. To be counted toward the Guinness World Record, players need only to demonstrate the ability to strum or pick the song proficiently.
