The Answer Is: Who's Who in America

The Answer Is: Who's Who in America

NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The question? What iconic biographical reference work will be featured as a category for the first time on the June 16 broadcast of Jeopardy!

Drawing on Who's Who in America's long and fabled history (the first edition was published in 1899) Jeopardy! will be featuring a series of answers and questions taken from the 107-year history of the book.

Plans are underway already for the next season of Jeopardy!, where the Who's Who theme will be expanded to include Who's Who answers/questions in a variety of fields.

"This really is a perfect marriage," said Marquis Who's Who, LLC CEO Gene McGovern. "Who's Who in America has featured many of the greatest names in American history and American history has always been a key component to the show. The use of our biographical information - much of which was supplied by major historical figures themselves and available nowhere else - gives Jeopardy! a treasure trove of new and fascinating information to work with."

Many individuals connected with Jeopardy! have been featured on the pages of Who's Who in America, including Jeopardy! creator Merv Griffin, Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek and Jeopardy! all-time champion Ken Jennings.

While there are many imitators on the market, Who's Who in America remains the industry's standard bearer. When it came time to bury the Millennium time capsule at the White House in 2000, Who's Who in America was included as a snapshot of the most important and influential people in America at the dawn of the new millennium.

In a recent article in The New York Times, Who's Who in America was called "that venerable guide to American achievement ... it recognizes 109,000 people and by their inclusion recommends them to posterity and to America's collective memory."

Who's Who in America is just one of numerous biographical reference works published by Marquis Who's Who. Other works in the Who's Who series include:

-- Who's Who in the World
-- Who's Who in American Law
-- Who's Who of American Women
-- Who's Who in American Education
-- Who's Who in Finance and Business
-- Who's Who in American Politics
-- Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare
-- Who's Who in Science and Engineering
