Artists, Scientists, and Educators Form Innovative Production Company to Promote Well-Being Through Film, Literature, and Music
NEW YORK, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- SophiArte, a production company comprised of writers, teachers, dancers, scientists, musicians, and film directors, today announced its official launch. After three years of research and development, the company will soon present its first artistic project.
SophiArte, whose name combines two words meaning wisdom and art, promotes well-being through art and culture. Aware that research in well-being is still in its early stages, and that little attention has been given to the relationship between well-being and art and culture, SophiArte has developed a dynamic research team, whose findings are integrated into the company's film, music, and literary productions.
Kevin Cloninger, son of Dr. C. Robert Cloninger, director of the Center for Well-Being at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, is founder and president of the company. His father's pioneering research in the Science of Well-being, outlined in his book Feeling Good: The Science of Well-Being (Oxford University Press, 2004), is the inspiration behind SophiArte's projects. The company produces films and documentaries that chronicle the lives of individuals whom Dr. Cloninger has identified as "elevated beings" -- artists, philosophers, and religious figures who have contributed to the development of well-being.
"SophiArte's music, film, and literary productions are intended to stimulate the natural development of self-aware consciousness, which is essential for well-being," explains Kevin Cloninger. "We want our creative projects to help people rediscover the link of unity and continuity between the past and present, while reviving an appreciation for individuals who have made significant contributions to humanity."
SophiArte's first film series will explore the lives and work of historical figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Francesco Petrarch, and Homer. All of SophiArte's films are shot in High Definition (HD) Video. Highlights include footage of some of the world's most famous masterpieces, many of which have never been captured before in HD. Musical scores and award-winning choreography, as well as beautiful cinematography of France, Greece, and Italy, will also delight viewers.
The first film, To You, Being of the Future: Part I, Leonardo da Vinci - Universal Genius, will be released on June 25. Two dollars from every sale will be donated to a fund for the prevention and treatment of depression or to humanitarian projects for children in developing countries.
