Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLB.com) installs Tut Systems IP video encoding platforms at professional ballparks to deliver broadcast-quality video to its central editing facilities in New York
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., April 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tut Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:TUTS), an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today announced that Major League Baseball Advanced Media (BAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, has deployed its Astria(R) platform to encode and deliver digital video across its network connecting every major league ballpark with its central studio in New York City.
The Astria platforms are used to encode broadcast-quality MPEG-2 4:2:2 and MPEG-2 4:2:0 video and transport it to and from the BAM studios in New York. BAM utilizes the content for multiple applications including: real-time editing and re-distribution of content; production of team and player highlight footage; Internet-based broadcasts of MLB games as well as pre- and post-game coverage; and video archiving of MLB footage.
"MLB.com was looking for a total solution that supported a variety of live and stored video applications," said Joseph A. Inzerillo, Senior VP of Multimedia & Distribution, of MLB Advanced Media. "After evaluating a number of solutions, we found that the Tut Systems solution provided the best flexibility to support IP video transport, while still delivering pristine video to our central studio in New York. Operationally, evolving to an all-IP video platform allows us to efficiently manage the many video applications that deliver our fans a compelling and ubiquitous baseball experience."
"Major League Baseball.com continues to demonstrate its leadership role in professional sports entertainment as it innovates on behalf of its fan base," said Sal D'Auria, President, CEO and Chairman of Tut Systems.
