A Year of Free Music, A Thousand Dollars and a 60 Gigabyte Video iPod Go to the Grand Prize Geek
NEW YORK, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Is your record collection alphabetized by artist and sequenced by release date? Do you empty your wallet buying import-only releases? Can you sing the lyrics to your favorite songs without musical accompaniment? eMusic, the world's largest digital retailer of independent music and the #2 digital music service after iTunes, wants to reward your obsession with The eMusic Challenge-a contest set to crown the ultimate independent music geek. Here's how it works.
Correctly name ten or more artists in the order that they appear on eMusic's brand new TV spot -- "A Place" -- and receive an entry to win one of ten prizes. The grand prize geek, whoever correctly identifies the most artists in order, will be awarded a free annual eMusic subscription, $1,000 and a video iPod(R). Contestants that forward the contest to friends who accept the eMusic Challenge will receive an extra entry into the sweepstakes. Contestants can enter the sweepstakes by viewing the commercial at http://www.emusic.com/features/commercial.html and filling out the online entry form. The deadline for entries is 11:59 P.M. on April 30, 2006. You do not need to be an eMusic subscriber to enter.
"It's about time music geeks get some respect," said David Pakman, President and CEO of eMusic. "Our own staff is passionate about all kinds of independent music, and the eMusic Challenge is our way of rewarding indie music aficionados for their enthusiasm and loyalty to incredible artists, and helps us tell other music fans what we're all about."

About the TV Spots
Created by Boston-based MMB, the ad campaign reverently honors the brilliance of independent music and establishes eMusic's leadership in the space. Two different 10-, 30- and 60-second spots pay homage to independent music through a montage of concert footage, music videos and still frames of legendary music icons, emerging artists, and fans. Among the songs featured in the spots are Bloc Party's hit "So Here We Are" from their Silent Alarm album and The New Pornographer's "Bleeding Heart Show" from their Twin Cinema album.
The spots are appearing on national cable stations, including Discovery, TNT, Comedy Central, The History Channel, Spike, FX and Fuse, among others.
