Crowfly Providing On-Demand Downloads of Performances From USA Network's 'Nashville Star'
Crowfly's End-to-End Solution Includes Recording and Mixing, Administration and Branded Digital Distribution - the Night of Each Show
NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Crowfly Digital Entertainment is providing viewers of "Nashville Star" the opportunity to go directly to the show's website (http://www.nashvillestar.usanetwork.com/) immediately following the telecast and download contestant performances for $.99 through a Nashville Star-branded music store. This exclusive offering is the first of its kind for a reality talent competition series and will continue every Tuesday night (10PM ET/9PM CT) throughout the season. Special host and select guest star performances along with their complete discographies are also available. This year's hosts are five-time Grammy Award-winning Wynonna and hick-hop star Cowboy Troy. Guest superstars include Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Hank Williams, Jr., Sara Evans, Kenny Rogers and more. In addition, the music store will also showcase music recommendations from judges Phil Vassar and Anastasia Brown.
Crowfly founder and CEO Eric Geadelmann stated, "As a Music City-based company that was recently created to enable artists to better utilize technology to forge deeper relationships with their fans, we are especially enthusiastic about working with the premier country music television series to help launch the careers of these very talented emerging artists." Nashville Star judge and Crowfly co-founder Anastasia Brown added, "This season's contestants are definitely talented enough to offer fans the opportunity to purchase their music online and we are thrilled to be the first to do so."
"We really wanted the Nashville Star website to be an extension of the show, providing the fans an entirely new level of interactive participation. Crowfly is a phenomenal addition and is advancing the way music shows can live beyond the one-hour telecast," expressed Alexandra Shapiro, USA Network's vice president, marketing and brand strategy.
Crowfly's service offering includes the recording and mixing of the performances, which is being overseen by "Crowfly Live" co-founder and Grammy award winner Chuck Ainlay. AMD, a global provider of leading microprocessor solutions to the digital entertainment industry, partnered with Crowfly to provide the technology for these premium live music recordings. The AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based Digital Audio Workstation that features the industry leading AMD64 technology was utilized by Ainlay and his team.
"There's a certain magic that happens during live musical performances that has been hard to consistently capture due to the expense and hassle of deploying traditional recording technology," said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment at AMD. "AMD64 allows any aspiring artist with a PC to harness the same technology relied upon by the world's top recording artists - of which these 'Nashville Star' contestants will hopefully one day become. We're enthusiastic about extending our existing relationship with Crowfly, who shares our vision for enabling artists at every level."
The show's weekly performances are being delivered to fans through the Crowfly digital media management and delivery system via PassAlong Networks' p2pREVOLUTION(TM) platform which includes the industry standard Passing-and- Points program, affording viewers the opportunity to earn points towards future purchases from a library of more than 1.6 million songs by passing song recommendations to friends via instant messenger or email.
"Utilizing Crowfly's digital media management and delivery system in conjunction with our p2pREVOLUTION(TM) digital download platform, we can better connect artist and fan by seamlessly extending the viewer experience and providing the accessibility to timely content," said Dave Jaworski, CEO of PassAlong Networks.
In addition to the production services and the technology platform, as an e-label, Crowfly is providing the show's producer, Reveille, a number of back- end administrative, music licensing, financial and data management services related to the On-Demand Download offering.
