Media Preview for the World Premiere of the Marvel(R) Super Heroes(TM) Science Exhibition Wednesday, March 22, 2006 From 10:00 am to 12 pm
What: Explore real-world science and technology in this 9,000
square-foot exhibition inspired by the mythic powers of Marvel
Super Heroes at the California Science Center! With 50 super
heroes and villains and 30 action stations, you will discover how
these popular comic book characters bring science into
their world.
Visuals/sound bites include students from the Dr. Theodore J.
Alexander Jr. Science Center School as they:
* Hang from a fiber-thin thread and compare its strength to that
of real spider silk. Spider-Man will be on hand to help guide
the experience.
* Step into an exoskeleton suit and lift a full-sized car like
Iron Man to illustrate how simple mechanical devices can be
used to increase human strength.
* Manipulate Doc Ock's limbs and learn about real-world advances
in prosthetics.
* Navigate through an alleyway like Daredevil, using the sense of
touch and hearing clues.
