LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- No fooling! Jack Black (King Kong, School of Rock) will host Nickelodeon's 19th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, Saturday, April 1 (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT), when kids honor their favorites from the worlds of film, music, sports and television in a star-studded live telecast (tape delayed for West Coast) from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion. Held fittingly on April Fools' Day this year, the no-holds-barred event will feature pranks aplenty along with messy, noisy, slime-filled fun. Kids will rule and stars will revel with them at the oft-dubbed "mini-Oscars."

"Kids love Jack Black's high energy, unpredictable comedy -- the perfect personality for serving as host of Nick's 'anything can happen' Kids' Choice Awards," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming, Nickelodeon and an Executive Producer for the award show. She added, "With Jack as host, the surprise factor is naturally elevated. Even we can hardly wait to see what will happen."
"I'm super excited to be hosting Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards because when you're doing a show for the kids, you can get extra crazy and loony," said Black. Black, the title star of Nacho Libre, a Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies/Black & White Productions comedy opening this June, also boasted, "I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell you I'm going to bring the super-duper, freaky-deaky, ultra-clowny super dance! But that's all I'll say."
The feature film Madagascar topped the list this year, accruing three nominations for favorite animated movie and favorite voices from an animated movie (Chris Rock and Ben Stiller), and Robots received two for favorite animated movie and favorite voice from an animated movie (Robin Williams). Black currently stars in the smash hit movie King Kong as showman Carl Denham, who captures the giant ape. After earning a cult following for his comic rock-folk band Tenacious D, the actor first gained big-screen attention and won a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in High Fidelity as John Cusack's sarcastic music store clerk. He went on to prove his box-office draw in School of Rock and to win a Golden Globe Award nomination for his portrayal of a failed rock musician turned substitute teacher in an uptight private school. Black made his mark, too, starring in the title role opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal and in films including Envy, Orange County, Saving Silverman and Bob Roberts. He was the voice of Lenny in the animated hit feature Shark Tale. This June, Black will star in Nacho Libre -- a Nick Movies/Paramount Pictures/Black & White Productions comedy and in Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny for New Line Cinema.
