MediaZone Launches One-Of-A-Kind Broadband Pay-Per-View Soccer Offering
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- MediaZone.com, a leading provider of licensed video programming via secure broadband networks, today announced that the company will deliver sports fans exclusive pay-per-view access to second-round coverage of Latin America's most prestigious soccer tournament, the Copa Toyota Libertadores. The offering marks MediaZone's first foray into Latin American soccer and builds on the company's mission to offer consumers a diverse and compelling selection of broadband pay-per-view content online.
The offering is made possible through an agreement with Fox Pan American Sports. While the exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, Fox Pan American Sports has granted MediaZone live and exclusive online broadcast rights to the 13 games in the United States and Puerto Rico. As a result, the package will only be broadcast by MediaZone and will not be available on television, cable or any other broadband websites in the U.S.
"The Copa Libertadores is a world-class competition among the best teams in Latin America and we are excited about bringing these matches to our broadband customers," said MediaZone COO Michelle Wu. "This venture is a broadband power play that combines the programming prowess of Fox Pan American Sports with the state-of-the-art consumer delivery platform of MediaZone."
Starting today and extending through the completion of the second round of the Copa Libertadores on April 19, 2006, consumers will be able to watch 13 matches live at www.MediaZone.com/copalibertadores. The matches will feature some of the most competitive teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela and can be purchased as a 13-game package for $39.99 or individually for $5.99.
For a complete schedule of Copa Toyota Libertadores matches available through MediaZone, please visit www.MediaZone.com/copalibertadores.
Note to editors: The games are available only to Internet users with a high-speed modem or connection and will be broadcast using 384-500 kbps. Each will be produced in Argentina and features Spanish-language audio commentary.
