IdleAire is in the process of installing its patented Advanced Truckstop Electrification (ATE) systems in approximately 210 travel centers and terminal locations, having more than 13,000 total spaces, over the next fifteen months. The company has already broken ground in the first phase of installations and has initiated construction or pre-construction on the majority of the 210 locations. IdleAire's ATE technology allows drivers of long-haul trucks to turn off their diesel engines instead of idling for extended periods of time, thereby saving fuel and maintenance costs and reducing air pollution. IdleAire's system provides filtered in-cab heating and air conditioning and a variety of communications and entertainment options to the professional driver. IdleAire will be purchasing LodgeNet's interactive television platform, licensing its software, and contracting with LodgeNet for a variety of entertainment options as part of its overall service offering.
"With this relationship we are expanding our interactive television network to include another vertical market that can benefit from our technology and content distribution capabilities," said Scott C. Petersen, President & CEO of LodgeNet. "We are enthusiastic about IdleAire's innovative concept, proven technology and a sound business plan which they estimate will ultimately put their solutions in front of more than a million long-haul truck drivers a year."
"As we launch the next phase of our growth plan, we are thrilled to be getting premier Hollywood movies and other on-demand content from the company with well over a decade of video-on-demand experience and the world's largest base of hotels," said Mike Crabtree, Chief Executive Officer for IdleAire. "LodgeNet's established relationships with the Hollywood studios and expertise in programming their films will be invaluable in helping us create the most enjoyable environment that professional drivers have ever experienced."
