JAKKS Pacific(R) Brings Messages of Caring and Sharing With New TeleStory(TM) Interactive Books Based on Care Bears(R)

MALIBU, Calif., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAKK) announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with American Greetings(R) to offer its TeleStory(TM) products with content based on the lovable Care Bears(R) characters, created and owned by American Greetings. The TeleStory(TM) interactive books connect directly into a standard TV using JAKKS'(TM) Plug & Read(TM) technology and serve as a fun, introductory reading guide for preschool-aged children. The agreement was brokered by The Joester Loria Group, the exclusive worldwide licensing agency for Care Bears.

"JAKKS(TM) has had tremendous success working with American Greetings and the Care Bears property during the last 5 years," said Jennifer Richmond, senior vice-president of licensing and media, JAKKS Pacific, Inc., referring to the popularity of JAKKS' line of Care Bears art activities, Plug It In & Play TV Games(TM) toys, and interactive plush toys from the company's Play Along(R) division. "We look forward to expanding the relationship with this latest agreement. The Care Bears brand is exceptional, and we expect the license to significantly strengthen JAKKS' new TeleStory product and position it as a top-seller in its category."

The TeleStory(TM) product creates an engaging, interactive reading experience aimed at showing kids how much fun reading can be. TeleStory interactive books take what children love -- the TV -- and use it to introduce them to the world of reading. The TeleStory system is book-shaped and plugs directly into the A/V jacks of any standard TV. No DVD player is needed.

Individual "mini-book" cartridges based on popular children's books are inserted into the TeleStory system, so that children can build their TeleStory libraries and collect their favorite books as they grow and master reading. By pressing the large, colored buttons on each TeleStory unit, kids can interact with the story and make the characters come alive on their TV screen, while also giving them the option to read at their own pace, both with or without assistance.

JAKKS plans to launch the Care Bears TeleStory titles for 2007 at mass and specialty retailers nationwide. The suggested retail price for the TeleStory products will be under $30, with each 2-pack of 'mini-book' cartridges retailing for under $15.
