Central European Media Enterprises Appoints Dr. Herbert G. Kloiber to Its Board of Directors

HAMILTON, Bermuda, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. ("CME") (Nasdaq/Prague Stock Exchange: CETV) today announced it has appointed Dr. Herbert G. Kloiber as a member of CME's Board of Directors, effective February 1, 2006.

Commenting on the announcement, Ronald Lauder, Chairman of CME, said: "We are delighted to welcome Herbert to the Board of CME. Dr. Herbert Kloiber is chairman and majority shareholder of Tele Munchen Group (TMG). TMG operates television channels RTL II and Tele 5 in Germany as well as ATV+ in Austria. In addition to broadcasting, TMG is engaged in television production and distribution as well as the distribution of theatrical, video and television rights through its control of the second largest television and film library in Germany. TMG has also represented the U.S. network CBS in programming distribution in German speaking territories for over 20 years.

Prior to TMG, Dr. Herbert Kloiber worked in various capacities at Beta/Taurus from 1970 -- 1976. In 1974, he was named Managing Director of Unitel, the film and television production division, which specialized in the production of opera and concert films. He received many international awards, including the International Emmy for Performing Arts in 1979, as well as an Emmy as Executive Producer of 'Horowitz live' (ATT/NBC) in 1978. In November 2004 he received the Directorate Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during the International Emmy Awards Gala.

Dr. Kloiber is a member of the board of the Bavarian Film Funding Organization in Germany and of Sun New Media Inc. in China. He is also chairman of the board of CineMedia Film AG, CinemaxX AG and ATV+ and served on the board of SBS Broadcasting from April 1998 until the recent sale in August 2005. Dr. Kloiber is married and lives near Salzburg in Austria with his wife and two children.
