Still Channel 20: Statement from President and General Manager of Channel 20 Detroit
DETROIT, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- "Make no mistake. Channel 20 will still be a major broadcast station in Detroit for years to come," said Sarah Norat- Phillips, president and general manager of the station in response to yesterday's headlines surrounding the demise of the WB network in Fall 2006. Norat-Phillips says it's business as usual with minimal changes in day-to-day operation of the station.
"Some issues remain unclear but it creates interesting opportunities as a truly independent station in a strong market. The absence of network primetime programming would make it easier to clear time for more Pistons over-the-air telecasts. New station imaging, probably including a change in the WB-oriented call letters and logo, will have top priority," she added.
Granite Broadcasting Corporation (OTCBB: GBTVK) owns and operates, or provides programming, sales and other services to 13 television stations in the following 8 markets: San Francisco, California, Detroit, Michigan, Buffalo, New York, Fresno, California, Syracuse, New York, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Peoria, Illinois, and Duluth, Minnesota-Superior, Wisconsin. The Company`s television station group includes affiliates of the NBC, CBS, ABC, WB and UPN networks, and reaches approximately 6% of all U.S. television households.
