Arizona Lottery Digital Drawings to Air Exclusively on ABC15 Starting Feb. 1

Daily Drawings to Air Consecutively During the 10 p.m. Newscast

PHOENIX, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1, players can tune-in to ABC15 to view the Arizona Lottery drawings for The Pick(TM), Fantasy 5(TM), Pick 3(TM) and the multi-state Powerball(R) game. Players will be able to view the respective daily drawings all at once and at the same time everyday. Drawings in the Phoenix market are scheduled to air exclusively on ABC15 at approximately 10:25 p.m. Monday through Saturday, during the evening news.

"We are pleased to announce this new relationship with ABC15. This value-for-value partnership is a creative method of assuring that our drawings receive permanent, convenient and consistent air time without additional costs to the Lottery," said John Hogg, director of marketing at the Arizona Lottery. "A formal commitment on behalf of a broadcast partner to air our drawings is important to us, to our players and to every beneficiary of Lottery funding."

"We are delighted about this joint venture with the Arizona Lottery," said Janice Todd, vice president and general manager at ABC15. "We hope to create a new experience for our viewers and for everyone who buys lottery tickets."

ABC15 was one of several broadcast stations that submitted their proposal to be the English-language drawing broadcast partner for the Arizona Lottery in the Phoenix market. The request-for-information via a marketing partnership was distributed to broadcast affiliates across the state by Riester~Robb, the Lottery's marketing firm, on behalf of the Arizona Lottery in early November. The marketing proposal for a drawing broadcast partner stems from a long-term initiative to transmit the drawings statewide to both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. The Lottery's advertising agency is currently reviewing all other out-of-market proposals.

According to John Hogg, director of marketing at the Arizona Lottery, "The fresh thinking, and the mutually beneficial marketing ideas outlined in the ABC15 proposal differentiated the station from other bidders in the Phoenix market."

Beyond providing consumers with a convenient, consistent time slot and a permanent home for all of the drawings, ABC15 has committed to additional long-term marketing elements to support the Lottery as a whole.

Included in the station's package is not only a promotional schedule and aggressive campaign to generate excitement about the Arizona Lottery's switch to ABC15, but also continued collaboration including weekly jackpot amount mentions; access to the station's cutting-edge mobile web services; cross-promotional opportunities on their website, at community events and with third-parties; as well as a half-hour show, to air three times a year, dedicated to showcasing public programs and services that are supported by the dollars raised through the sale of tickets. The package is solely a value-for-value partnership at no hard costs to the Lottery.

In turn, the Arizona Lottery will include the ABC15 logo on all of its outdoor boards in the Phoenix market and direct players to ABC15 for the drawings, on printed Lottery tickets, on their website and on radio traffic commercials.

Infrastructure to transmit the drawings statewide to both English and Spanish-speaking audiences was put in place in May of last year, when the Lottery made the technological leap to a state-of-the-art digital drawing system.

Proposals to be the digital drawing broadcast partner in other parts of the state are currently in review by the Lottery's marketing firm, Riester~Robb. Responses have been received from networks in southern and northern Arizona including Spanish-language affiliates. This move marks the end of a 10-year agreement with Phoenix NBC affiliate.

Players can log on to www.arizonalottery.com for drawing results and can sign up to receive the winning numbers via e-mail. Players can also check their numbers by calling the winning numbers hotlines at 480-829-PICK in Phoenix and 1-800-499-3798 in all other Arizona areas. The winning lottery numbers are also published in the Arizona Republic the day after each drawing. Powerball and The Pick drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Fantasy 5 and Pick 3 drawings are held Monday through Saturday evenings.
