TBS-17 Selects 23 Metro-Atlanta Students for PSA Campaign Celebrating GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS
ATLANTA, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A group of 23 Metro-Atlanta students, ages 6-18, are taking part in TBS-17's GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS, a collection of PSAs that celebrate American achievement. About to enter its sixth year on the air, GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS profiles Americans of various backgrounds who have been influential in shaping this country's society. The :30 PSAs will air throughout 2006 locally in the Atlanta area on TBS-17 and as streaming video clips online at tbsstoryline.com.

The following students have been chosen as GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS presenters, honoring American icons who have made significant contributions to the U.S. in the arts, technology, science and civil rights:

Nicole Grasseschi - North Atlanta High School - Fulton County
Tracy Hall - Glen Haven Elementary School - DeKalb County
Kyle Hosford - Intown Community School - DeKalb County
Druniece Jackson - North Atlanta High School - Fulton County
Eric Lotzer - Milton High School - Fulton County
Leonte Mims - Towers High School - DeKalb County
Isabella Montalbetti - Austin Elem. School - DeKalb County
Mikako Nezaki - Eastvalley Elementary School - Cobb County
Megan Shadburn - Martin Elementary School - Hall County
Ashley Stephensen - Shiloh High School - Gwinnett County

These 23 presenters were chosen from nearly 500 student auditions submitted by 66 Metro-Atlanta schools. Each presenting student's school received a $250 donation to be put towards educational programs and equipment.
Subjects chosen for the new slate of TBS-17's GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS include Blanche Kelso Bruce, Amy Tan, Sequoyah, Benjamin O. Davis Sr., Lewis Latimer, Kalpana Chawla, Patricia Roberts Harris, Fanny J. Crosby, Milton Hershey, Linda Alvarado, Otis Blackwell, Edgar J. Helms, Michael DeBakey, John Johnson, Capt. Merryl David, Mary Walton, Shirley Chisholm, Annie Dodge Wauneka, Dr. Ben Carson and Dr. Franklin Chang-Diaz.
