Kevin Trudeau Files Suit to End Misleading Infomercial Rankings

Trudeau Alleges That Jordan Whitney's Unfair Business Practices Mislead the Public With False 'Top 10' List

CHICAGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- To correct the public record with respect to infomercial rankings, Kevin Trudeau, entrepreneur and author of the bestselling book, Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You To Know About, filed a lawsuit today to end what he alleges is Jordan Whitney's misrepresentations of infomercial broadcast rankings.

As the publisher of the "Greensheet," Jordan Whitney periodically publishes infomercial rankings, which are widely relied on by the public to determine the success of a product or an infomercial producer. The "Top 10" ranking is perceived to be a demonstration of an infomercial's success by measuring such aspects as its broadcast frequency and the size of markets reached. However, Trudeau alleges that Jordan Whitney has manipulated such projections by accepting false information from certain infomercial producers and thereby inflating their ranking status.

Trudeau alleges in the lawsuit that such false listings have skewed the public's and sales industry's perception of Trudeau's infomercial that promotes his book. Trudeau believes that his infomercial has in fact been number one since September in terms of media buys and revenue generated. Yet, Jordan Whitney's "Top 10" listings have never reflected that ranking.

"Having infomercial information and rankings accurately reported to the public is essential to understanding how a product or in my case, a book, is actually received by the public," said Trudeau. "Jordan Whitney's inaccurate rankings have robbed the public of seeing the true facts about the status of Natural Cures as a phenomenally successful infomercial that has resulted in the book becoming a New York Times bestseller as over five million copies have been sold to Americans across the country."

Kevin Trudeau seeks injunctive relief to reclaim the Natural Cures infomercial's number one status and to stop Jordan Whitney from publishing what he believes to be misleading and disparaging infomercial rankings, which cause economic and competitive harm to infomercial marketing companies, such as Trudeau's company, Shop America.
