A Captivating Year in Golf: NBC Sports to Present The PGA's Year in Review, Jan. 8

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- A memorable 2005 golf season, complete with upsets as well as validation for veteran performers, will be presented by NBC Sports in The PGA of America's Year in Review, Sunday, Jan. 8, from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m, ET.

Hosted by NBC commentator Jimmy Roberts from the PGA Historical Center at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., The PGA of America's Year in Review will feature the national kickoff of The PGA's 90th anniversary celebration throughout 2006. PGA President Roger Warren will review the Association's progress from its origin in 1916 to today. During the program, a new public service announcement will be launched to mark the anniversary.

The PGA's Year in Review also features the 87th PGA Championship, a look back at the week in which Phil Mickelson emerged from a field of 93 of the world's top 100 ranked players and earned a second major championship with a final-hole birdie at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.

Viewers also will follow Mike Reid's stunning comeback and playoff victory to win the Senior PGA Championship at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.; and Tiger Woods capping a double-major season in which he won a seventh PGA Player of the Year Award, a sixth Vardon Trophy and a sixth PGA Grand Slam of Golf title in Hawaii.

The PGA of America's Year in Review special also features:

* Great Britain & Ireland's upset of a U.S. Team of PGA club professionals to win the 22nd PGA Cup in Ireland.

* University of Illinois Coach Mike Small overcoming the elements in Kiawah Island, S.C., to win the 38th PGA Club Professional Championship

* A review of the 2005 PGA of America national award winners --
