Gorilla Version 3.0 World Premier has Independent Filmmakers Talking
STUDIO CITY, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Independent filmmakers spoke, and the developers at Jungle Software listened. Gorilla, the premier production tool for emerging filmmakers, has just released version 3.0. With more than 70 added features and 30 new reports, Gorilla still beats the competition in every way -- including price.
Gorilla 3.0 has blown the doors wide open on features. Filmmakers can now link their schedules directly to their budget; new Smart Entry allows producers to attach actors, crew locations, shoot days, elements and vendors from any budget with simple to use drop down menus; workgroups are now well-supported by allowing schedules & budgets to be independently saved and sent to other Gorilla users; and best of all, Gorilla 3.0 includes updated SAG and union labor rates and comes packed with over 1,000 film festivals.
In the past, software like Gorilla was written primarily for big studios. "When I was producing my first indie feature," recounts Jungle Software co-owner and Gorilla developer Aaton Cohen-Sitt, "I was on a shoe-string budget. I wanted to put my money into my film. But I needed specialized software to keep track of everything, so I decided to create Gorilla."
Gorilla offers the best of both worlds, a wealth of features at an affordable price. Features that have made it the new choice for independent filmmakers including the ability to import screenplay information from Final Draft(R) and Movie Magic Screenwriter(R) as well as the ability to track cast, crew, locations, vendors, rehearsals, budgets, profit sharing, expenses, storyboards, shots, and film festivals.
"I have always loved our Film Festival module," explains Jungle Software's Director of Sales and Marketing Ethan Markowitz, "now, with 3.0, we've completely updated our list to over 1000 fests, all with current contact information, and all available at the click of a button."
Award-winning filmmaker Bryan Michael Stoller agrees that Gorilla is ideal for the independent filmmaker. In his book Filmmaking for Dummies, he highly recommends the software: "It's a sophisticated software package, that will make the task of scheduling your movie a lot easier!"
Gorilla is available in three editions. The Pro Edition (retail price $399) offers unlimited shoot days and budget, the Standard Edition ($299) can handle up to 48 shoot days and a $625,000 budget, and the Student Edition ($199) can handle up to 14 shoot days and a $50,000 budget.
"The three editions make industry standard processes available to the masses," explains Markowitz. "We've also made it very easy and affordable for filmmakers to upgrade Gorilla between the Student, Standard and Pro editions as they take on bigger projects."
With the release of 3.0 , Jungle Software is also introducing 'The Producer Pack' allowing filmmakers to buy two licenses at a significantly reduced price. Volume licenses are also available.
Gorilla runs great on either Windows XP (R) or Macintosh(R) OS X.
