StepUp Commerce Partners With Internet Broadcasting to Power Local Shopping For TV Web Sites Nationwide
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- StepUp Commerce, Inc. ( http://www.stepup.com/ ), the Internet's local shopping service, announced an agreement with online news innovator Internet Broadcasting ( http://www.ibsys.com/ ) to host local shopping services for TV stations nationwide.
Under the agreement, StepUp will enable consumers of 48 of Internet Broadcasting's TV station web sites to find the products they want from local retailers. Through introduction of a search tool within various channels of each TV site such as "Deals," "House & Home" and "Technology," StepUp provides search results of products available at local retailers on a co-branded page.
"Our strategy is to help leading sites provide their users with unique information on products available locally, and TV web sites are a perfect match," said Kendall Fargo, Founder and CEO of StepUp. "Users visiting TV sites are local shoppers, and now StepUp connects them to local retailers. We're excited to partner with Internet Broadcasting to bring local shopping to their sites. It's a win for shoppers and even more exciting for local retailers who can now cost-effectively reach local customers through the Internet."
The service targets the reported 70% of online consumers who prefer to buy locally. And it offers access to all of the products those retailers sell, not just those that are on sale.
"Internet Broadcasting provides 12 million monthly visitors with high-quality, highly relevant news and information that affects their daily lives," said Erik Greenberger, director of business development for Internet Broadcasting. "By partnering with StepUp, a pioneer in local shopping on the Internet, we're able to provide our consumers with a rich offering of products sold locally. It's a great fit for our TV sites and their local audiences."
