Comedian Lewis Black to Appear on The Weather Channel

Comedian Lewis Black to Appear on The Weather Channel

ATLANTA, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lewis Black, called "America's foremost commentator on everything" will take issue with all things weather when he appears on The Weather Channel, the nation's premier source of broadcast weather information. The cable network will welcome the popular author and comedian, offering Black as the first celebrity to appear on "Celebrity Weather," broadcasting to TWC's millions of faithful viewers.

Black was at The Weather Channel headquarters being interviewed on camera for taped segments that will debut on Evening Edition with Dave Schwartz shortly after midnight on Thursday, November 10th. He appeared in front of a chroma-key "green screen," delivering weather forecasts; Black also weighed in on such topics as Airport Delays and Global Warming. Other parts of the interview will continue throughout the week and on the network's Saturday fare, Weekend View, which airs from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Black, who tours the country performing live to sold out crowds and appears on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, is known to work himself up over everything from politics to pop culture. At The Weather Channel, he'll turn his trademark observational humor to meteorological and environmental subjects.

"I wanted to be on The Weather Channel to find out what a Doppler really is," said Black, "and to see if these guys are really doing anything all day. I love weather because it allows me to complain ... and I love to complain," he added.

Terry Connelly, senior vice president and general manager for The Weather Channel, noted that over the years, many film and sports stars had revealed their secret desire to broadcast the weather. "Lewis Black should provide an interesting glimpse into how our network 'brings weather to life,'" said Connelly. "In this case, the life of an energetic stand-up comic and author who travels extensively and has made a career out of raging against foolishness in popular culture, politics, and everything in between." The New York Times warns "No one is safe from Black's comic missiles." But is Connelly concerned? Quite the opposite, he says, "We're really looking forward to making this kind of unique opportunity a regular part of our broadcast schedule."
