Radio France Chooses Fortinet to Protect its Network of 50+ Radio Stations Located Throughout France

France's Largest Radio Network Deploys an Array of Fortinet Security, Management and Logging/Reporting Systems

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Fortinet -- the pioneer and market leader of Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection -- today announced that Radio France, France's largest Radio Network, has chosen a comprehensive security platform from Fortinet to secure its Wide Area Network (WAN) connections through 51 separate sites within France. Radio France is deploying a broad array of Fortinet security system, management, and logging and reporting products. The range of products include FortiGate(TM) integrated network security systems to protect against an array of threats, a FortiManager(TM) system to centrally-manage communications and security between remote sites and headquarters, and a FortiLog(TM) system for comprehensive logging and reporting of network activity.

With its headquarters in Paris, France, Radio France is the country's largest radio network. It employs approximately 4,000 employees in France and around the world to broadcast 460,000 hours of programming annually. Information technology (IT) and security play are paramount for Radio France to ensure reliable, uninterrupted broadcasting.

Prompted by increased bandwidth demands for additional programming and services that began causing recurrent periods of network saturation, Radio France decided to review and improve its network architecture last year. The company migrated from a Frame Relay WAN network to secure IP virtual private network (VPN) to provide cost-effective, secure connectivity between the 51 sites across the country. In order to improve network performance, Radio France moved all web traffic, including web navigation and email, to ADSL connections at each site freeing up the existing network for applications dedicated to the production and emission of radio programmes, in particular audio data.

"When implementing our new network infrastructure, security was critical and we considered various options from a variety of leading vendors," said Phillipe Leclerc, IT Manager, Radio France. "We found Fortinet's systems to be the only solutions that could meet our array of security needs, most importantly always current virus protection at the Internet gateway, and do so within our budget."

Radio France is securing all of its 51 branch sites with Fortinet's FortiGate-60 network security systems. The FortiGate-60 systems are managed and configured centrally from Radio France's headquarters in Paris, via Fortinet's FortiManager central management console, and Fortinet's FortiLog logging and reporting system is used to manage all required reporting functions and provide intelligence on network activity.

Radio France also subscribes to Fortinet's FortiGuard Antivirus Service, which provides automatic antivirus updates to each FortiGate system in real-time to ensure automatically updated 24x7 protection against the latest threats. Since in place, Radio France says that most recent alerts were signalled via the FortiGate systems well ahead of its software solutions, thereby eliminating any threats before they entered its network.

"Radio France's deployment of Fortinet's FortiGate, FortiLog and FortiManager systems and FortiGuard subscription services demonstrates a defense in depth approach to protecting distributed networks," said Adam Stein, vice president of corporate marketing for Fortinet. "Organisations of all types and sizes benefit from the complete content protection and real-time performance Fortinet's array of market-leading security systems provide."
