PFA Extends Ad Blitz in Support of Judge Owen

New Ad to Feature the Legal Scholars Who Know Owen Best

WASHINGTON, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In anticipation of the U.S. Senate vote on judicial nominee Priscilla Owens to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Progress for America will hold a conference call with media on Thursday, May 19th at 2:00pm EDT to discuss their new television ad highlighting Owen and the need for an up or down vote.

Priscilla Owen currently serves on the Texas Supreme Court, having been reelected with 84% of the vote in 2000. She was nominated by President Bush to 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on May 9th, 2001. Despite receiving the American Bar Association's highest possible rating, her nomination has been filibustered for over four years.

Joining PFA's Executive Director Chris Myers on the call will be legal scholars including Linda Eads (see bio below) who traveled to DC earlier this week with a Texas delegation made up of legal scholars to meet with U.S. Senate offices on behalf of Judge Priscilla Owen.

Eads and several other members of the delegation are featured in the advertisement.
