Alure Home Improvements of Long Island to Be Featured On 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' as The Hit Reality Show Comes to Long Island For The First Time
EAST MEADOW, N.Y., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- ABC's hit reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to Long Island this past March to change the lives of the Vitale Family, and once again they called upon East Meadow's Alure Home Improvements to handle the renovation and rebuild the home of the Vitale's in St. James, who lost their wife and Mother of three to Leukemia last year. The two-hour episode can be seen on ABC on Sunday, May 15th from 7:00-9:00 PM.
Last year, John and Ann Marie Vitale of St. James, NY were a young couple in love with three beautiful little boys in a small 800 square foot cottage. Soon after moving in with Ann Marie's parents to begin a renovation of their home which they quickly outgrew, tragedy moved in and Ann Marie, at only 28 years old, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. She died soon after and was buried on what would have been her 29th birthday. Medical and funeral bills from Ann Marie's illness drained the family's savings, and John was never able to renovate their tiny home. It was Ann Marie's dream for her precious babies to live out the childhood she wanted them to have in the home where they were born.
Alure has already performed two dramatic makeovers for the hit show. When "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" called Alure President Sal Ferro about its latest makeover recipient, Ferro knew his team had to step up again. "Your heart just goes out to this family. I'm a parent and it's every parent's worst nightmare to know that you won't be able to be there for your kids. We're privileged to have the opportunity to help the Vitales rebuild their home and their lives. We want this to be the first step for them into the happy future Ann Marie dreamed of."
Alure Home Improvements went above and beyond to help change the lives of the Vitale family, as owners Carl Hyman, Sal Ferro, and Bob Hyman, who along with the help of Smithtown Councilman Tom McCarthy, Chief Building Inspector Bob Bonerba, and many other businesses and people from the Smithtown community, organized a special concert fundraiser the week of the makeover and established a fund to assist the Vitale family. To date, Alure has helped to raise over $140,000 in the fund for John and his three boys.
The design team, Alure Home Improvements, and many other volunteers will overhaul the Vitales' 800-square-foot home and turn over the keys to Ty and the design team in less than seven days. In its place will be a new sprawling ranch, with features and surprises that you'll have to tune in to see.
