Siemens Informatica to Offer Tarantella Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition Software to Enterprise Customers in Italy

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. and MILAN, Italy, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Reaffirming its proven capacity to provide the global enterprise market with unrivalled flexibility, security and ease of use via its Tarantella Secure Global Desktop(TM) Enterprise Edition (EE) software, Tarantella(R) today announced a bundling agreement with Siemens Informatica whereby Siemens Informatica will offer and support Secure Global Desktop EE as part of its service to the Italian enterprise market. The agreement, which is the culmination of a multi-year sales and support effort, provides enterprise customers in Italy with more comprehensive access to Secure Global Desktop EE solutions from one of Italy's premier systems integrators.

Siemens Informatica will build Secure Global Desktop software into projects that focus on three core solutions:

-- Solutions to web-enable legacy enterprise applications. These solutions will allow older, yet still critical enterprise applications, to be accessed across the Internet side-by-side with modern applications. PCs, thin clients, PDAs or even cell phones can securely access these applications using just a simple web browser.

-- Solutions to provide access to enterprise applications via portals. These solutions will focus on Secure Global Desktop's built-in capabilities for integrating into virtually any portal environment using industry-standard methods such as SOAP and XML. Once configured, these portals can then provide secure access to any of the applications deployed in a given enterprise.

-- Solutions that focus on reducing IT costs. These solutions focus on projects like centralizing application deployments using technologies such as Linux-based thin clients and application servers.
