Raytheon JPS Communications Interoperability Technologies Support Public Safety During Super Bowl XXXIX
RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal, state and local agencies deployed several ACU-1000 systems to enhance and ensure communication interoperability between disparate radio systems during the 2005 Super Bowl.
Numerous agencies utilized JPS' ACU technology in multiple configurations to address the security needs of the large-scale Super Bowl festivities. The primary interoperable deployments included the Region III EDICS trailer that was deployed by the Alachua County Sheriff's Department adjacent to Alltel Stadium. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office provided emergency hailing channels between their 800 MHz trunked radio system and the VHF radio systems of two federal enforcement agencies. The United States Coast Guard Gulf Strike Team from Mobile, Alabama, utilizing an ACU-T, supported on-site back- up interoperability communications on the perimeter of Alltel Stadium. The ACU-T was also used to provide communications interoperability for enforcement personnel at the remote venue in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This deployment linked VHF and 800 MHz radio frequencies during tactical security efforts.
"The ACU-1000 has proven to be a very intricate part of our overall interoperable communications solution," stated Vic Cullars, Telecommunications Consultant for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. "We are very pleased with our Raytheon JPS Communications interoperability equipment and the capabilities it provides. The customer service provided by Raytheon JPS has been unmatched," added Lee Mathis, Radio Manager for the City of Jacksonville.
"The use of the ACU technology at such high-profile events like the Super Bowl underscores the trust and confidence public safety agencies have placed in our equipment," said Jeff Critser, Vice President and General Manager of Raytheon JPS. "It's gratifying to see the ACU-1000 being deployed when the margin of error in interoperability communications is virtually zero."
