Intellisync Ousts Extended Systems as Mobility Provider for CSA and Their Leading Laundry Management Software
Symbol Device Solution - Powered by Intellisync(TM) - Fully Deployed in Just 4 Days
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Intellisync Corporation (NASDAQ:SYNC), a leading developer and marketer of wireless software for the worldwide mobile communications industry, today announced that it has replaced Extended Systems as the mobility provider for Computer Software Architects (CSA), North America's leading vendor of linen and laundry management software. Intellisync's technology now mobilizes CSA's LinenHelperNet(TM) software, which allows hospitals to synchronize linen-tracking data entered into Palm OS-based handheld devices with information residing in the product's SQL database. The software, with "Intellisync Inside", was fully deployed just four days after it was purchased.
The technology behind it all -- Intellisync(R) Mobile Suite(TM) -- now enables hospital and field-service personnel to use Symbol handheld devices to track linen quantities and usage, calculate restocking levels and print receipts -- accurately, reliably and securely.
Intellisync Mobile Suite supplanted an Extended Systems-based offering that, according to CSA, did not meet their high-level expectations and satisfaction. "With our previous system, our server synchronization was always sensitive -- if one handheld device had a problem, the whole system went down," explained Jim Adler, managing director of Computer Software Architects. "We lived with this for a while, but when we needed to grow, we installed the latest version of Extended Systems' software on a new server, and it didn't work. I was under pressure from clients to get it fixed. At that point, I did what I should have done in the first place -- I ordered Intellisync. I was impressed by the long list of other companies that were already using their product. We purchased the Intellisync solution on Nov. 15, 2004, installed it on November 18, and went live on Nov. 19, 2004. It got me out of a real problem with my customers. That's a real ROI!"
Powered by Intellisync(TM), LinenHelperNet leverages the Internet to track linen and laundry at every stage of the process. Used by 200 hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, the software speeds data entry and eliminates transcription errors. With LinenHelperNet, users can replace pre-printed, hand-adjusted, error-prone forms with computer-generated receipts that look professional and are printed right at a customer's door. LinenHelperNet adapts to a facility's business model and production methods, streamlining processes and putting real-time information at users' fingertips -- information that helps users manage their entire operation more effectively.
"Our experience with CSA is a leading indicator of how the enterprise is becoming even more demanding when it comes to mobilizing the workforce," said Clyde Foster, chief operating officer for Intellisync. "We are seeing cases where earlier versions of mobile products already deployed in the enterprise are being replaced by industry-leading mobility software that meets ever-increasing demands, like Intellisync Mobile Suite. Technology executives are reevaluating their mobile infrastructures, and it's not just because of higher demands on software functionality. Ease of installation, speed of deployment and customer satisfaction are critical. The fact that CSA was able to replace Extended Systems with our Intellisync-powered solution in four days is proof that Intellisync software can solve mobility challenges fast. And because we're committed to providing the industry's broadest support of mobile devices, applications and data types, we look forward to a long-term and expanding relationship with CSA as their mobility needs evolve."
