Pinal County, Arizona Launches Accela Automation as New Enterprise E-Government Solution

Pinal County, Arizona Launches Accela Automation as New Enterprise E-Government Solution

New System Integrates Land Management Activities and Streamlines Inspections With a Mobile Government Solution

DUBLIN, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that Pinal County, Arizona has launched Accela Automation(TM) as the County's new Central Permitting System. Employees in the Building Safety Department, as well as the Planning and Development Office, are utilizing the Web-based, enterprise system to automate permitting, workflow, project management, complaint tracking, and other critical functions. The County has plans to bring the remaining divisions of the Development Services Department online with Accela Automation -- these include Environmental Health, Air Quality, and Public Works.

Accela Automation provides a centralized database for the County, allowing employees across multiple departments to be interconnected and operate more efficiently. All of the processes handled by these departments are now streamlined including permit application and tracking, building inspection, planning, zoning, and code enforcement.

"As the second-fastest-growing county in the state, Pinal County was looking for a solution that could process permits and inspection requests in record numbers. We also needed to centralize all of our building and planning activities and eliminate interdepartmental disparities," remarked Steve Brown, Building Official for Pinal County. "Accela Automation delivers an enterprise solution that connects all of our permitting, planning, inspection, and code enforcement activities under a single database, improving our ability to effectively deliver government services to our citizens."

The new system also includes Accela Wireless(TM), a software application that allows inspectors to move their daily tasks to the field by facilitating direct, real-time access to data in an agency's database from a mobile device. The County's building inspectors will be able to view their daily inspection schedules remotely, complete inspection forms on-site, and download their results directly into the Accela Automation system. Inspections will be completed faster and results will be available immediately for applicants.

"The addition of mobile technology provides our inspectors with the tools they need to maximize their time in the field and complete inspections more quickly. Their ability to connect to the home database will ensure that everyone in the Department is working with the most up-to-date, accurate data," stated Mr. Brown.

"We are very excited to add Pinal County to the growing list of jurisdictions that have selected and successfully implemented Accela Automation as their government enterprise solution," states Robert P. Lee, Accela's President and CEO. "Our success is based heavily on our ability to deliver solid reference customers for our fully featured, Web-based software applications. Selecting Accela allows government to make technology decisions based on factual information rather than gambling on unproven software that is still being developed."
