Connect Beta Test Management Tools Extend Microsoft Active Server Pages to Run on Sun Java System Active Server Pages

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 2
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Centercode, Inc., a leading provider of beta test management software and services, and Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SUNW), today announced that Centercode's Connect(TM) web-based management tool will soon run on Sun's recently announced Solaris 10(TM) Operating System. With the addition of Solaris 10 support, Centercode customers will soon be able deploy Connect on servers featuring any UNIX(R), Windows or Linux-based operating system.

By teaming with Sun, Centercode will extend existing Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) to Sun Java(TM) System Active Server Pages (ASP) -- part of Sun's Java System Web Server. Through this expanded availability of Connect, product developers can deploy a stable Web services platform to manage a wide range of beta tests and help ensure that new products meet customers' standards for quality and reliability.

Centercode Connect expands the reach of applications written for Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), by extending them to Sun's Java System Active Server Pages. With support for Java ASPs, Centercode Connect can now run on any UNIX, Linux or Windows-based operating system.

"Customer feedback is the primary commodity impacting successful product development," said Richard Morgan, CEO, Centercode. "To that end, by teaming with Sun, Centercode is pleased to make available an important customer feedback tool on a J2EE technology-based framework with the help of a UNIX technology leader and the creator of Java technology, Sun Microsystems. Soon, customers will receive all aspects of our beta test management software -- from feedback, content and user management to comprehensive reporting capabilities -- on an expanded range of platforms, including Solaris."

"The net gain from our joint effort is the added peace-of-mind, scalability and security of Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE platform) and UNIX technology at little to no added cost to the customer," said Tom Goguen, vice president of marketing for Solaris at Sun Microsystems. "Sun's Java System products help provide developers and Centercode customers a stable and consistent Web services platform to obtain valuable feedback on products in development and then effectively manage and act on the information."

Part of the Java System Web Server software, the Java System ASP delivers the entire active server pages framework to a multitude of Web servers and operating systems, including Linux, Windows and Solaris. With interoperability built in, Sun helps Centercode step up its market reach and customer satisfaction by providing an easy and reliable way to expand availability of the application to multi-vendor, Java 2 Enterprise Edition-technology based platforms. Centercode also helps enable quality assurance of Sun products.

"From day one, we've been nothing but amazed at the performance, reliability and ease of setup of Connect on Sun Java Enterprise System software and Solaris-based hardware," said Luke Freiler, CTO, Centercode. "In fact, Centercode plans to issue the next release of the application to utilize even more products from the Java Enterprise System suite, such as Sun's Java System Identity Server, to help ensure the utmost security for online data collection."

As a Web-based application, Connect delivers a comprehensive set of beta testing tools that provide the basis for tester and team communications, extensive feedback tracking as well as numerous other beneficial features to organizations that are located in multiple locations around the world and to those preferring the ease and benefits afforded by a hosted solution. For organizations that prefer in-house implementations of Centercode's Connect application, Centercode can now point customers to low cost, easy-to-install Linux and Solaris OS-based configurations, and enable deployment onsite.

Centercode Connect with support for Solaris 10 OS is expected to be available in Q1 2005.
