Jack Silver Named Operations Manager at K-EARTH 101
Will Also Remain Program Director of KLSX 97.1 FM Talk
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles market veteran, Jack Silver, has been named to the newly created post of Operations Manager for radio station K-EARTH 101.1 FM, it was announced today. The appointment is effective immediately. Silver will also continue to serve as Program Director of KLSX 97.1 FM Talk, a position he has held since 1997. Jay Coffey will continue as Program Director of K-EARTH 101, reporting to Silver. Silver is also Vice President of Programming for Infinity Broadcasting's eight FM Talk stations in top markets in the U.S.
In making the announcement, K-EARTH 101 Vice President and General Manager Maureen Lesourd said, "We are so fortunate to have Jack Silver join the K-EARTH team. Jack is a stellar programming talent, a keen strategist, and a sales/programming mediator who will be able to interface with every department at the station."
Silver's long and distinguished career includes programming stints in Rock and Top 40 at KGB-San Diego, KKBH-San Diego, WLUP-Chicago, and KSHE-St. Louis. Silver accepted a job co-producing the Rick Dees show at KIIS/FM in L.A. in April of 1987, at a time when KIIS was named "Radio Station of the Century." As producer one of the most award-winning morning shows in radio history, Silver gained national recognition when he was recruited as Program Director of legendary Chicago radio station WLUP-AM, where the format was essentially morning shows all day. By 1993, Silver had programmed and became a part of a morning team himself, and launched his own company Morning Shows, Inc.
At KLSX, Silver was helpful in making The Howard Stern Show the top-rated morning radio program in Southern California among English-speaking adults 25-54 years of age. Silver also worked hand in hand with afternoon host Tom Leykis to achieve unprecedented ratings, and KLSX is recognized as one of the most successful talk formats in the nation.
"I'm looking forward to working with the great staff at K-EARTH 101, many of whom I have worked with at other stations in the past," said Silver. "K-EARTH has a thirty year history as one of the most-listened and most-loved radio stations in Los Angeles, and we hope to continue to build on that tradition. I'm especially excited to be working with a music format again!"
K-EARTH 101 is owned by Infinity Broadcasting, a division of Viacom Inc. with 183 radio stations, primarily in the Top 50 markets of the United States.
