Legendary Movie Star and Noted Environmentalist Robert Redford to Headline Third Annual Brinker International Lecture Series
Tickets on Sale Now for the May 6 Event to Benefit the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts
DALLAS, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaimed film star, director, producer, conservationist and environmentalist Robert Redford will make a rare appearance in Dallas May 6 for a benefit for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Redford will be the featured artist of the third annual Brinker International Lecture Series, the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation announced at a special event Tuesday evening.
Redford, who gained international stardom when he teamed with Paul Newman in the 1969 smash hit movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, will appear at The Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas in an unscripted interview with local columnist and author Lee Cullum.
Tickets for the Friday, May 6, 8 p.m. appearance at The Majestic Theatre are on sale now and range in price from $35 to $200 and may be obtained through all Ticketmaster locations, http://www.ticketmaster.com/ , or by calling 214-373-8000. Tickets may also be purchased at The Majestic Theatre box office at 1925 Elm Street in downtown Dallas.
Produced by the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, the Brinker International Lecture Series is the only series in North Texas devoted entirely to the performing arts.

The Brinker International Lecture Series previously has featured screen sensation John Travolta and seven-time Emmy award winning actress Mary Tyler Moore.
Redford's film career, which spans nearly four decades, has brought numerous awards including an Oscar for best director for his feature film directorial debut, Ordinary People. As an actor, Redford starred in a series of major films, including The Horse Whisperer, All the President's Men, The Natural, The Way We Were, Out of Africa, Jeremiah Johnson, The Electric Horseman and The Great Gatsby.
In addition to his work as an actor, director, and producer, Redford has been a noted environmentalist and activist for more than 30 years, has earned numerous awards for his achievements and programs to protect areas of Utah from commercial exploitation. Today, much of his time is spent with his Sundance Institute, founded in 1981, which provides a vital showcase for emerging screenwriters and film directors.
Lee Cullum is a veteran interviewer and is a regular contributor to The Dallas Morning News and has appeared frequently on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS television. She also hosted Conversations, a series of biographical interviews with major newsmakers for PBS.
