BBMF Signs Definitive 5-Year Exclusive Agreement with TV Tokyo Broadband Entertainment Inc.
Agreement Allows Creation and Management of a Dozen New Mobile Game Channels
Based on Japanese Animations, TV Dramas and Other
Licensed Mobile Contents
TOKYO, Feb. 18 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BBMF Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: BBMF) announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement with TV Tokyo Broadband Entertainment Inc. ("TXBB"), a majority owned subsidiary of TV Tokyo, the leading TV broadcaster in Japan, to create and manage new mobile game channels, based on the existing licensed mobile contents of TXBB.
Under the partnership agreement, BBMF will exclusively develop, operate and manage the mobile game channels. The agreement calls for the creation of a total of 12 new mobile game channels based on different licensed brands. TXBB already operates fan wallpaper sites for these channels. The new game channels will be launched on all three carriers in Japan, namely, NTT Docomo, KDDI and Vodafone. Every month, 5 new branded character games will be released to each channel. The channels are estimated to be launched in summer 2005. Each game is expected to retail between JPY105 and JPY315 per download.
The licensed brands covered in the agreement, which will remain undisclosed until the launch of the respective game channels, are based on the highest quality Japanese drama, Japanese animation as well as foreign animation and children's contents from other parts of the world, which are regularly shown on TV Tokyo Channel 12 throughout Japan. TV Tokyo viewship totals 33.3 million households, representing 67% of the TV coverage area in Japan. TXBB's mobile content sites have more than a million monthly paying subscribers.
Mr. Kamibayashi, President of Tokyo TV Broadband Entertainment stated, "This partnership with BBMF allows us the ability to deliver a tremendous wealth of new rich contents to Japanese mobile consumers, leveraging our strength in mobile rights management and content planning, and BBMF's very significant mobile production resources and development expertise. I expect each of these games to generate about 20,000 downloads."
BBMF is responsible for both the development of all the mobile games, as well as operating the mobile sites themselves, including site creation, content update, server management, and customer support. BBMF and TXBB will work together to determine each month's new game delivery lineup, to leverage the marketing and buzz opportunities of the broadcasting of the respective contents on TV Tokyo's Channel 12. The agreement calls for the delivery of a total of 720 branded character games per annum over the next 5 years.
Mr. Han Lian, Co-Chairman and CEO of BBMF stated, "This deal is about great character brands, a lot of new mobile games, the biggest mobile content market in the world, and tremendous marketing leverage through a large existing paying subscriber base, and the premier TV channel in Japan. It's a uniquely powerful combination."
Mr. Antony Yip, Co-Chairman and President of BBMF stated, "We look forward to this being the first of many successful collaborations with Tokyo TV Broadband Entertainment to deliver new great content, leveraging their portfolio of licensed content, and our tremendous scale of resources. With our production teams led by Japanese ex-console producers, we will continue to raise the quality of our products that we are able to deliver."
