Digital Bridges Launches Spyro Ripto's Quest(TM)
Everyone's Favorite Purple Dragon Makes Its Debut On To Mobile Phones!
SAN FRANCISCO, California, January 6/PRNewswire/ -- Digital Bridges, a world leader in the creation and distribution of
mobile entertainment solutions, today announced the launch of VU Games' hit
videogame franchise Spyro The Dragon into the North American mobile games
market. The first title launched by Digital Bridges, Spyro Ripto's Quest(TM),
is now available across leading North American wireless carriers, featuring
seven stages filled with fire-breathing action.
The Spyro franchise has generated well over $250 million in console
videogame sales to date in the U.S. alone (across 9 million units), with
total worldwide unit sales of more than 12 million. Earlier this year, VU
Games launched two Spyro titles: Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy in June
2004 and Spyro A Hero's Tail in November 2004.
In the mobile phone edition of Spyro Ripto's Quest(TM), the lovable
purple dragon must save the Ice, Grass and Fire worlds from the evil clutches
of Ripto and his evil army. Ripto has managed to penetrate the realm's
defenses by damaging the machine that protects these worlds. With the help of
the Professor, Spyro and Sparx must venture out and recover all four damaged
machine parts before the world is completely taken over by Ripto!
Players with Java or BREW-compatible phones can guide Spyro through seven
levels of gameplay spanning three mysterious worlds. Armed with fire
breathing abilities and head-butting attack moves, Spyro will enable gamers
to discover hidden sublevels, rescue captured fairies and repel the onslaught
of regenerating Rhino troops. Key to gaming success is the finding of hidden
power-ups that will increase Spyro's breath attacks as well as other
attributes.
Said Paul Maglione, Senior Vice President of Publishing and Marketing for
Digital Bridges.
"Following hot on the heels of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart, the launch of
Spyro Ripto's Quest doubles Digital Bridges' lineup of popular character
platform titles, and further expands our reach in terms of demographics and
gameplay genres. We're very excited about establishing both brands as
cornerstones of the mobile gaming experience, and look forward to working
with our partners VU Games to maximize the impact of these launches in the
vibrant North American market."
Philip W. O'Neil, VU Games' President, North America commented: "Spyro
The Dragon has achieved mass market success in the video games industry, and
we believe the franchise will have strong cross-over appeal with mobile games
consumers with the launch of Spyro Ripto's Quest."
Spyro Ripto's Quest(TM) is now available on leading wireless carriers'
portals at a suggested retail price of $4.99. For more information, please
