Audiovox Gets SIRIUS With 4 New Models
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX) today unveiled their new expanded Sirius Satellite Radio line about which Tom Malone Senior VP, Sales said, "We have been successful with the Sirius System from their inception and the expansion of these new models reflects how positive we feel about the trend toward satellite radio and what it can mean to our distribution base."
The recent announcement of shock-jock Howard Stern joining Sirius in 2006 has sparked a renewed interest in the category. "Satellite radio sales for Audiovox have been very strong this year and we believe that these new Sirius products should keep that momentum going," said Malone. "Our receivers have features that enhance the satellite radio experience like scrolling sports scores and stock ticker data. We even support the use of off-the-shelf rechargeable batteries by way of a charging circuit built into some of our accessories."
The Audiovox Sirius systems feature a plug and play receiver, an optional mobile docking station for vehicles, boats and campers, a home docking station for the den, bedroom, etc., and a boom box. With the addition of one or more of these options consumers can expand their listening pleasure from their vehicles to almost anyplace they enjoy music, news, sports and entertainment, with all the clarity and quality that the Sirius format offers.
Malone noted that several key retailers had taken advantage of the "Combo Kit" which combines a receiver with a mobile docking station at an MSRP of $149.99. The Combo Kit will be offered again in the Sirius format (SIRCMB3 at MSRP $149.).
