The Internet of the Future - A European Challenge - Inauguration of the Autonomic Communication Forum
The Internet of the Future - A European Challenge - Inauguration of the Autonomic Communication Forum
BERLIN, December 1/PRNewswire/ --
- Invitation - Press Meeting, December 8, 2004 - 1.00 p.m. (CET) Brussels
On 8 December 2004 in Brussels the inaugural meeting of Autonomic
Communication Forum will take place in the presence of:
- Dr. Ulf Dahlsten, Director Emerging Technologies and Infrastructures,
DG Information Society of the European Commission
- Prof. Dr. Radu Popescu-Zeletin, Chair of ACForum and director of
Fraunhofer FOKUS, Berlin and other high-rank officials of the IT industry and
leading European research organisations.
More than 45 industrial companies and research institutes from across the
whole of Europe have come together in this Forum in a common endeavour to
define the future of communications - and of Internet, the worldwide
communication infrastructure. The Initiative is founded on the belief that a
radical paradigm shift towards a self-organising, self-managing and
context-aware autonomous network, considered in a technological, social and
economic context, is the only adequate response to the increasingly high
complexity and demands now being placed on the Internet. Europe has the
capacities and the expertise to meet this challenge and to set new
international standards.
The Forum is strictly related to the new research area "Situated and
Autonomic Communications" launched by the Future and Emerging Technologies
unit of the IST (Information Society Technologies) research programme of the
European Commission.
Registration is free but, due to room limitations, absolutely necessary;
