Ashlee Simpson Set for Early '05 Headlining Tour; Debut Album Up 61% From Last Week on Strength of New Single & Video
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Ashlee Simpson is planning a "La La" - palooza of her own, as the three times platinum-selling Geffen Records artist readies her first U.S. headlining tour set to launch next February.
The dates follow the spectacular success of Ashlee's debut CD "Autobiography" and premiere single "Pieces Of Me," as well as her latest hit single "La La." The video for "La La" which has been spending it's time in MTV's TRL top ten has helped propel sales of the album including a move this week from 42 to 33 with a sales increase of 61% (the market as a whole was up only 22%).
Ashlee recently won a Billboard Award as the Top Female Newcomer of the year in Las Vegas last week and her AOL Music Live event had the biggest 1 week audience ever for AOL with 1.6 million plays. In the coming weeks she will be performing on the "Tonight Show" on December 17th and three songs on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve." Then after the New Year, she kicks it in Miami for a performance at the Orange Bowl half time show. Meanwhile her popular MTV reality series, "The Ashlee Simpson Show," will begin its second season early next year.
Ashlee Simpson is a 20-year-old Waco, TX, born singer/actress. After a recurring role in the WB's hit series Seventh Heaven, Ashlee has found tremendous success as a recording artist. She recently finished shooting her feature film debut in the picture "Wannabe."
