Tastebuds Launches Mobile App to Connect People Through Their Music Libraries

LONDON, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Social discovery service Tastebuds launches new iOS app to help you discover new
people using your iTunes library

Tastebuds, the social service that helps you meet new people through music, announced
today the launch of its new iOS app. The app scans the user's iPod or iPhone and instantly
shows them people nearby who share their tastes.

"Our mission is to connect people across the globe through music, so we're thrilled to
introduce the Tastebuds concept to mobile," says Alex Parish, Tastebuds co-founder.
"Musical preferences can tell you a lot about a person and having something in common is a
great conversation starter. It's the best way to break the ice; we have the highest
response rate to messages of any social discovery service," says Parish.

The stunning new app, designed for iOS7, presents the user's music matches in fun
categories such as Bastille Fans and Hip Hop Fans. Users can swipe through profiles until
they find someone they want to connect with - whether it's for dating, friendship or to
find a concert buddy. Breaking the ice is made easy as users can send songs to introduce
themselves.

Tastebuds has users in 100s of countries across the world with millions of messages
sent between users and dozens of marriages to date.

Notes For Editors

Tastebuds [http://tastebuds.fm ] is a social service that uses musical taste to
connect people. The UK startup has attracted favourable press from the Guardian and NME
among others, as well as the thanks of music fans everywhere.

London-based Tastebuds was founded by Alex Parish and Julian Keenaghan after meeting
in the band Years of Rice and Salt. The company launched their Spotify app in May 2012,
allowing users to share tracks and playlists with new people on the music streaming
service.

How does the Tastebuds iOS app work?

Users download the app from the Apple App Store, creating an account by connecting by
Facebook or entering their details manually. There are no forms to complete as the app
scans the user's iTunes library, automatically adding their favourite artists to their
account. Further artists can be added manually.
